Peter MELLALIEU is a performer with a focus on art song, sacred, and stage-show music.
He performs as a soloist for ShowWest Singers, Auckland Lieder Group, and Auckland Welsh Choir. He performs at sacred events, including weddings and funerals, in rest homes, and other events.
Peter's career in music began as a choir-boy in Llandaff Cathedral Parish Choir, Wales. Emigrating to Cambridge, New Zealand, he took leads in school productions such as Gilbert and Sullivan's 'HMS Pinafore'. Graduating from Victoria University, Wellington he became the chairman of the Wellington Bach Choir under the musical direction of Roy Tankersley. During this period, the choir commissioned several innovative compositions.
Peter competed in the New Zealand Aria Competition in Rotorua in 2008, and has sung with Ars Vocalis, Belgium, and Renaissance Singers, Palmerston North.
He has a passion for learning, teaching, technology, and innovation. Accordingly, Peter is an ardent explorer of techniques for accelerating the speed, accuracy, and quality of learning songs for performance situations.
